In cement precast brick production, freshly demolded bricks can still retain a temperature of 40-70°C. Workers cannot comfortably handle them by hand, and thick heat-insulating gloves reduce grip sensitivity, making slips and chipped corners more likely. The challenge: hot bricks that are hard to grip by hand

On the customer's cement precast brick line, bricks coming out of the demolding process still carried residual heat. Workers previously relied on thick heat-insulating gloves to move the bricks between stations and stack them on pallets. This method was slow and tiring. The gloves protected workers from heat, but they also reduced hand sensitivity and grip control. Bricks could slip during handling, causing chipped corners, surface damage and interruptions at the workstation. Ordinary rigid grippers were not ideal either. Cement bricks have slightly uneven surfaces, and hard clamping tools can struggle to grip consistently while increasing the risk of surface marks or broken edges.

The solution: one-hand pneumatic vacuum tube lifter

WOLIFT developed a dedicated vacuum tube lifter for boards and cement products for the hot brick handling process. The system uses vacuum suction instead of direct manual contact, helping workers avoid touching high-temperature bricks during transfer and stacking. The integrated one-hand handle combines pickup, release and movement control into one grip. The operator can pick up a brick, move it to the stacking position and release it with simple actions, without a complex setup or long training process.

High-temperature silicone foam suction cups

The suction cups were selected around two key brick characteristics: surface unevenness and residual heat. WOLIFT used silicone foam suction cups that can conform to the slightly rough cement surface and create a more reliable vacuum seal. The silicone foam material is also suitable for repeated contact with bricks at 40-70°C. Compared with ordinary rubber cups, it is less likely to harden, age or crack quickly under this hot-handling condition, helping extend the replacement cycle and reduce downtime.
The operator no longer needs to grip hot bricks by hand; the lifter picks, transfers and releases each brick with one-hand control.

The result: faster handling and fewer chipped bricks

After the WOLIFT lifter was put into use, the time required to move one brick from demolding to pallet stacking was reduced significantly. One worker can now handle the transfer and stacking task more comfortably, helping the line keep pace with production output. The stable suction cups also reduced slipping and edge breakage during handling.
